Corsair

Nick Spanner’s Story (briefly)

I started as a driver for Bearing Service Ltd in 1968/1969 and in 1972 started Olympic Bearings in Norwood Green Middlesex with a partner David Scott (seated on Range Rover)

After five  years of steadily increasing business I sold out my interest to Dave Scott and his partners and started another company Bearing Sales and Purchase in Milton Keynes then moving it in 1982  to  Bishop Auckland, County Durham and shortening  the name to  BS + P Ltd.

In 1985, fed up with the English weather, I chose to move to New Zealand for a change of scenery and to bring up my children in a better outdoors environment. I stayed in New Zealand for twelve years before returning to England in 1997. In 1998 I was saddened to hear my original partner at Olympic Bearings, Dave Scott, had passed away.

After six years in the UK trading as Direct Bearings and Power Transmissions,  I was approached by a major international company who requested that I supply bearings to their factories worldwide and so I moved to Switzerland where Corsair Sarl was started in 2003. Since then Corsair has expanded and we now supply major manufacturing companies throughout Switzerland and Europe with bearings and other power transmission parts. We have now been in Switzerland for eleven years and tend to move every twelve, so watch this space…..you never know!

“In total I have been in the bearing business for over forty years and have made many friends in the Bearing and Power Transmission industry.” Nick Spanner
