The Bega Story, by Carol Poelma
The company was founded in 1978 by Bernard Garritsen, father of the present CEO, Frank Garritsen. The name Bega is a contraction of the first 2 letters of our founder.
Bernard started off selling special pullers “TRACTA”, later he added induction heaters and universal pullers. By this time (1982) Frank Garritsen joined giving sales a great boost.
In 1988 Carol Garritsen-Poelma joined, starting work on corporate identity and marketing.
We actually started in the basement of our home before we moved on to a “real” office at the Hammerstraat in Epe The Netherlands.
Nowadays the company is located in Vaassen and has grown to 25 employees.
We are manufacturer of one of the largest ranges of induction heaters, using low frequency and middle frequency technology.
We have continued to grow our product lines, specializing in Tools for Mounting and Dismounting of bearings and other transmission parts. Also, we are proud of our newest baby: “BETEX Hydraulic Power”: cylinders, pumps, jacks, spreaders and workshop presses. Quality, safety and working ergonomically are important aspects of Bega Special Tools. Key to our success is a combination of sound advice and quality tools. We solve problems and we help to prevent them. In those early days our main market was the Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg). Now it is the whole world.
