Apple has now acknowledged that there are a number of IPhone 5s that were dispatched between September 2012 and January 2013 that may have defective batteries – Apple are offering new battery replacements for these phones.
According to Apple these phones will experience shorter battery life and will need charging much more frequently.
To check if you are eligible for a new battery go to www.apple.com/support/iphone5-battery and type in your Serial Number (find it in: Settings – General – About)
Those who are unsure about the replacement process or if they need any assistance in checking if their iPhone 5 battery is faulty or eligible for a free replacement, should contact Apple Technical Support for help.
Before you send your phone off to get the battery replacement make sure you do the following:
- Back up important data on ICloud or ITunes
- Turn off ‘Find my Iphone’
- Erase everything! Go to settings – General – Reset – Erase all Content and Settings
