Schaeffler Motorsport Quartets is now available as an iPhone and iPod touch app for free downloading from the Apple Store. Players can “gamble” against digital opponents with horsepower, cubic capacity, number of cylinders and weight.
Pitted against each other are vehicles from the over 25-year motorsport commitment of the automotive supplier with worldwide activities. The 48 cards range from the Formula Ford flyweight, in which F1 heroes like Michael Schumacher started their careers in auto racing, to the massive pulling tractor with 3,000 HP. The player who most successfully wangles the cards out of his/her opponent through clever use of the technical data is the winner. While in the case of HP, cylinders and cubic capacity the relevant higher number wins, the lower one wins in the case of weight.
The game can be played over 15, 20 or 25 rounds, or for all cards. The playing strength of the virtual opponent can be set to “easy,” “normal,” and “difficult.” A matter of quartets honour: in the digital version, too, equality of the technical data amounts to a “trick” and the cards are left on the table. Unfortunately, this app is only available to download on Apple devices.
